8 Podcasts That Got Me Through 2020

*And will probably get me through 2021 too…😂

I’ve listened to podcasts on and off for a few years – but it wasn’t until the end of 2019 and all throughout 2020 that I properly started listening to them.

For the majority of lockdown, I only saw about 4 people; so, I felt like listening to people talk on podcasts made me feel less lonely. That’s probably a bit sad, but it’s true😂 They’re easy to listen to when you’re commuting, doing housework and just about anything – especially if you don’t feel like listening to music.

So, these are the eight podcasts that got me through 2020 (and will likely get me through 2021 too). They’re not in any particular order.

Wrongful Conviction Podcast

Even though I said that these weren’t in any particular order I have started with my favourite and definitely most listened to podcast.

The Wrongful Conviction Podcast is presented by Jason Flom who is a founding board member of The Innocence Project (which if you’ve not heard of, definitely give it a Google). In each episode he chats to someone who has been convicted of a crime that they didn’t commit, along with lawyers and other experts. You will definitely hear some completely heart-breaking stories; but you also get to hear of their triumph of getting through and what amazing things they now get up to.

If you love a true-crime documentary, this podcast is definitely for you!

Grounded with Louis Theroux

As the name of this podcast suggests it is presented by Louis Theroux. I love everything I’ve seen with Louis in and this podcast is no exception – I just think that he’s great!

He’s spoken to some incredible people including – KSI, Chris O’Dowd and Rylan!! If you’ve watched Louis Theroux in anything before, then his podcast is just the same – except you can’t see him😂

The Secret’s Out

This podcast is presented by YouTuber Alfie Deyes. He invites his family, friends and other celebrities to reveal their deepest darkest secrets and also discuss the publics’ hilarious & embarrassing secrets which have been anonymously sent in. Some amazing celebs have already revealed some secrets including Robbie & Ayda Williams, Martin & Roman Kemp and two of my faves Chris & Rosie Ramsey (which will be mentioned further down).

Although I don’t think I have any secrets of my own (just embarrassing stories that not a lot of people know about – if that counts😂) this podcast is right up my street.

The Grow & Glow Show

The Grow & Glow Show is presented by Vix Meldew the founder of the personal branding membership Grow & Glow. I’ve spoken about the membership and Vix in general quite a few times on my blog & Instagram as it’s one of the best things ever! If you’re interested in getting a taster as to what the membership offers, then definitely check out this podcast.

I know that some people listen to this podcast while doing something else (like I do for the other podcasts). But I have a whole notebook dedicated to notes for this as its so educational.

If you create content of any kind, then I definitely recommend that you check out this podcast!

Blank Podcast with Giles-Paley Phillips & Jim Daly

Again as its name suggests Blank Podcast is presented by author Giles-Paley Phillips and comedian Jim Daly. Giles and Jim talk to a variety of celebrities about those difficult times in life where you just go blank and forget what you’re saying. It features guests such as author Jon Ronson, comedian Ed Byrne, Olympian Dame Kelly Holmes and so many more!

I first heard about this podcast when Giles sent me a Twitter DM on my personal. I wanted to mention this as it shows that you don’t have to be afraid to reach out and message someone who you think will love your work!

I just love a proper chatty podcast where you feel like you are a part of their conversation (as you will see from this list).

The Double Cleanse

The Double Cleanse is presented by two of my favourite people to watch on YouTube – professional makeup artist Robert Welsh and skincare enthusiast James Welsh. The podcast combines both of their loves – skincare & makeup and also other daily life topics; from perfecting your pores, beauty blunders and suspicious sponsorships.

They also get their listeners involved quite a lot via their Instagram too!

Shagged Married Annoyed

Comedian Chris Ramsey and his hilarious and gorgeous wife Rosie Ramsey present this podcast. If you haven’t already heard of this podcast, love listening to some people chatting and having a laugh – then this is definitely something for you!

They just have a chat about what they’ve been up to and the world in general and I just love it. I could definitely see my boyfriend and I do something like this, but we’ll see…

My Dad Wrote A Porno

This hilarious podcast is presented by Jamie Morton along with his best friends James Cooper & Alice Levine. In My Dad Wrote A Porno the presenters read and discuss a porno that was written by Jamie’s Dad. This podcast makes me chuckle non-stop!

In complete truth I didn’t end up listening to this that much in 2020. But it was the podcast that got me into podcasts and I definitely need to catch up with it. My boyfriend and I would listen to it when we were making food and I think we need to get back into doing that again🧡

So, there we have it – the 8 podcasts that got me through 2020.

Have you listened to any of these podcasts? Or do you have any recommendations? Please let me know in the comments below.

I hope you’re all doing well and that you’ve had a good start to 2021.
