The Ultimate Gift Guide

There’s many a gift guide for specific occasions such as Christmas, birthdays and Valentines. But have you ever wanted to get someone something just because? I know that life isn’t about presents or material items. However, I love making people smile with an unsuspecting gift or card. So, I thought I would gather a list of ideas that would make great gifts for anyone, at any time of year, for any occasion. I think this is also a great idea for during lockdown. I know that it’s being lifted in some areas – but most of us haven’t seen some of closest people in a while. So, sending them something to make them smile is never a bad idea.

This is just kind of a general list of ideas. But I hope that it gives you some inspiration.

Pamper Sets

These are a few sets that my boyfriend and I had for last Christmas. Something like the Lush and Body shop gift sets are great as they already come pre-wrapped. And the staff at both shops are so helpful. I think sets like this make great gifts as they often have a mixture of different products and they come in so many different types and scents. Plus, who doesn’t love having a pamper?

Tote Bags

I own so many tote bags and think that they’d make super handy gifts. They’re essential for shopping as it reduces the number of plastic bags that aren’t good for the environment. If you want to buy someone something, but aren’t sure what, a tote bag may be a good option. You could even “wrap” a gift in the tote bag instead of using wrapping paper - two gifts in one. You can get them from so many different places – most of mine are from Primark.

Personalised Items

I love personalised items anyway and am always drawn to them. But getting someone a gift that is personalised just for them is very thoughtful. Whether it’s their name, initials, favourite animal, favourite sports team or anything that represents them. It shows that you’ve taken time to think of them and who they are. Lisa Angel is a gorgeous company that sells a range of products and a lot of them can be personalised – I have a lot of their products in my wish list.

Makeup

If you know someone who loves makeup, but don’t know what to get them, I think giving them your favourite makeup product is a lovely idea. A couple of years a go a few friends of mine created a little kit of their go-to make up products and gifted them to me for Christmas – and I absolutely loved it! It gave me the opportunity to try new makeup and because my friends love them, I could ask them for ideas. Some of the makeup that they gifted me is now in my go-to makeup kit (which will be coming to the blog soon). There’s so many different makeup brands and products out there, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find something that they’ll love!

Jewellery

Jewellery can make a really special gift, but it doesn’t have to cost the earth! I go through phases of constantly wearing jewellery and then not going near it for months. However, I do actually love jewellery! Jewellery always just adds something to an outfit – whether that’s necklaces, rings, bracelets or anything. You could even combine two of these ideas and gift someone a personalised piece of jewellery. It could be their name, their initials or a favourite symbol of theirs. Or you could channel your inner Troy and gift someone a necklace with your initial on it. Although I’m not sure how I personally feel about that…

Free Samples

This may sound a bit cheap to some of you; but have you ever received a free sample of something that isn’t your kinda thing, but you know that one of your friends/family would love it? Personally, I don’t think there is anything wrong with giving things like this to other people that would appreciate it more. As mentioned in the introduction, gifts don’t always need an occasion. If you receive something that you won’t use, it would be so much better that you give it to someone else, rather than wasting it.

Books

I know that books can sometimes be a difficult gift as you might not know what kind of books the recipient enjoys. However, if someone was to give me a book because they thought that I would enjoy it or because it’s one of their favourites and they wanted to pass it along – I would like that a lot. Little things to show someone that you appreciate them and thought of them is always a lovely gesture.

Stationery

I absolutely love stationery! Whenever I’m gifted stationery it makes me so happy. I don’t even need to be gifted stationery; I just need to look at it. I know that that’s a bit weird. Stationery makes me feel instantly better about myself and makes me feel more organised – even when I’m not. And if nothing else, cute notebooks can make great photo props.

Favourite Food or Drink

If you know someone’s favourite food or drink then this is another great thing to gift. As mentioned in this post, Beanies coffee is one of my favourite drinks. Although I am currently more than stocked up on Beanies, I wouldn’t be upset if someone got my some more😉. If hot drinks are also one of their favourite things, but you want to get them something a little different, how about a syrup? This unicorn one is delicious and has glitter reflects in it. It would also make a great addition to a cocktail.

An easy go-to food would be chocolate/sweets and these can be easily bought anywhere. I’ve also recently seen shops on Instagram selling a variety of pic-n-mix products which I think would make an amazing gift!

Games

I absolutely love playing board games and so do a lot of my friends. So, this is definitely something that I would gift to other people and would love to receive as a gift. Board games are a fun way to bring friends and family together and do something without technology. The only issue with most of the board games that I own is that they’re for a minimum of 3/4 players – and most of the time it’s just myself and my boyfriend. So, if anyone has any suggestions for board games that can be played with two people that would be great.

Also, obviously if the recipient is more into virtual games then there is a wide range of Xbox, PlayStation, computer games etc available. I’m more of a Wii sports kind of girl, so I don’t know much about console games – but there are loads of sites out there for advice.

I hope this post has given you some inspiration of gifts that you could get for other people or even to treat yourself. Below are some of my go-to websites when it comes to getting gifts.

What is your favourite item to give/receive? Let me know in the comments.

I hope you’re all doing well and taking care of yourself and other people. Thank you for supporting me – it means the world!! And don’t forget to follow me on my socials.
