7 Ways To Support Your Faves Online

Whether your favourite content creators are on YouTube, Instagram, create Podcasts, write a blog or anything else – your support is vital for them being able to continue creating the content that you love.

What Is A Content Creator?
I use the word content creator as ‘influencer’ currently has really negative connotations (which I don’t agree with). Plus, technically we are all ‘influencers’. If you recommend something to a friend and they go and purchase it, for example, you’ve influenced someone else to buy a product.

So, a content creator is “someone who makes videos, articles, blog posts, anything that we read or watch” or listen to (source).

Read/Watch/Listen To Their Content
This is probably obvious. But if you enjoy someone’s content, read it, watch it, listen to it – view their content in some way. This benefits the creator as it shows them that their audience is interested in what they create and tells them which content to create more of. It also benefits you as you get to view content that you enjoy.

Like, Comment, Share, Save & Review
Whichever platform you are enjoying the content on, there is usually at least one of these options available. This again shows the creator want content you enjoy. Even if the creator shares something a bit different to their usual content – have a think about whether you enjoy that individual piece. If you don’t – fair enough. But if you do, then let them know! I’ve experienced it myself when I’ve shared something a bit different than a photo of me. I’ve decided to branch out and spend time creating a different shot, a quote or something creative and they tend to get less interaction than a photo of me – and it can be dis-heartening. I will continue to mix up my content until I create something that both my audience and I am happy with.

Recommend To Friends & Family
This is where your own influence comes in. If you follow someone who’s content you think a friend might like – send it to them. Not only will it give the creator a potential new audience, but it’ll also make your friend feel good that you’ve thought of them.

Watch/Interact With Their Ads & Ad Breaks
I know that YouTube ads can sometimes be super annoying! But they help the creator so much as they earn money from people watching those ads. It’s the same for ads on social media, blogs etc. Each watch, click and view makes a difference.

Use Their Affiliate Links
This is something that I’m currently trying to work out. I was recommended recently to start using affiliate links – but I found it a little confusing, but hopefully you will see some soon.

If you’ve not heard of affiliate links before – they’re a link that lots of content creators use. It just means that if you purchase through an affiliate link, the content creator will earn a small commission from the sale – at no extra cost to you. Everything about your experience is the same.

My blog is definitely a hobby currently, but I would like to make it more of a part-time job. Any money that I earn through affiliate links will be put into creating more content – whether that’s testing things, improving my equipment, my set-up etc. I love creating content and want to continue to create content that you want to see.

Suggest Potential Content Ideas
Please check with the person first before suggesting ideas.

I’m sure most content creators can relate – but I create content for you. My content focusses on self-acceptance, self-care, and empowerment. But there is so much to talk about within this – from Netflix suggestions, pamper days, periods, sharing my favourite female content creators and so much more. So, if there is something within my niche that you want me to talk about, then feel free to send me an Instagram DM or send me an email via my contact page.

Sign Up For Their Newsletter
Again, this is something else that I’m working on. I’m currently creating a free downloadable that you will get for signing up. Those that sign up will also get more behind the scenes gossip, be the first to find out about things that I’m working on and lots of recommendations. If there’s anything else that you think I should include in my newsletter – please DM me on Instagram!

Having email subscribers is super important to content creators as it shows that those subscribers really care about and enjoy that creators work. Also, email is more personal than social media and if anything, ever happens to social media, then those email subscribers will still be there, and the creator can contact them to update. For creators, having email subscribers feel like you’re just chatting and updating a friend – and I’m really looking forward to this.

There are a range of other ways to support content creators and a number of articles with other suggestions. I also see many creators how best they’d like to be supported – so have a look at what your faves are saying. It’s important to remember that it doesn’t have to cost money to support content creators – although this is an option.

I am more than happy with any of the above support! I love creating and I hope you also love what I create. Thank you for your continued support – you’re a star!
